Self sufficiency in Central Otago


We have the double challenge of keeping warm in winter and cool in summer in the extreme climate of Central Otago, without being connected to the national electricity grid.


Power from a bank of photovoltaic panels runs the Ventpac, which circulates air wamed by the sun and water heated from the wood fire. This off-the-grid-home designed by Aonui Architecture makes excellent use of electricity.
